Abstract | A convenient method was established for the synthesis of bis(ortho-trifluoromethylphenyl) dithiophosphinic acid (o-CF3Ph)(2)PS2H. The three-step route consisted of reactions of PCl3 with Grignard's reagent, sulphur and NaHS in turn in liquid phase. The title compound was purified through the formation of ammonium salt (o-CF3Ph)(2)PS2NH4 and characterized with NMR and HRMS. Both chemical and radiation stability of title compound were examined. The investigation on selective extraction of Am3+ over Eu3+ was carried out from weak acidic aqueous phase with traces amount of radioactive elements Am-241 and Eu-152,Eu-154. (o-CF3Ph)(2)PS2H in toluene afforded excellent Am3+ extraction ability, with distribution ratio up to around 150, meanwhile the excellent actinides selectivity was obtained. Such performance indicated the potential application of (o-CF3Ph)(2)PS2H in selective actinides extraction over lanthanides. |
