AbstractDuring the preparation of hydroxyapatite using (NH4)(2)HPO4 and Ca(NO3)(2) as the raw materials, the influences of raw materials mixing method (dropping and dumping) and the precipitate aging condition were characterized by means of TEM and XRD. It has been found that the dropping addition of Ca(NO3)(2) into (NH4)(2)HPO4 could improve the dispersion of precipitate, and yield the less agglomerated powders. Aging the hydroxyapatite precipitate under the boiling temperature could result in the seriously agglomerated particles. If the hydroxyapatite precipitate was aged under room temperature, the dispersion of particles could be improved. The particles after aging under the hydrothermal condition showed remarkable growth, good dispersion and designable morphology in the present of various amino acids.
