AbstractThe ironmaking and steelmaking industry is one of the big users of coal energy. The developing ironmaking process of smelting reduction based on using coal directly instead of coke will be a promising process in the 21st century. The present paper describes the thermodynamics and kinetics of sulfur behavior in the process of coal gasification in liquid iron bath with the coal-oxygen bottom-blowing, particularly to the sulfur content in off gas, including some comparison with preliminary experimental results.
