AbstractBased on new experimental findings, not only a new experimental method for measuring the flooding of powder is given but also a flooding number is defined in this paper. Experimental results have shown that the new flooding number has a distinct physical meaning and can quantitatively describe the tendency to flood. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A.
