AbstractA phase-transfer assisted experimental procedure has been developed for the self-assembly of noble metal nanoparticles prepared by wet-chemistry methods. The protocol calls for firstly the mixing of the metal hydrosol with an ethanol solution of alkylamine, and then the extraction of the alkylamine-stabilized metal nanoparticles into a non-polar organic solvent (such as toluene, hexane, or chloroform). This method offers an effective approach to assemble metal nanoparticles on a substrate.
