Preparation of Cubic Potassium Zinc Hexacyanoferrate Particles and Its Antibacterial Performance Investigation

AbstractCubic potassium zinc hexacyanoferrate particles were prepared with zinc nitrate and potassium hexacyanoferrate. The optimized reactant molar ratio was obtained by researching into the particles morphologies, yields, compositions, crystal structures and antibacterial performances of the various samples. The as-made particles were analyzed by SEM, XRD and ICP methods to obtain the results such as particles morphology, crystal structure and elemental composition. The antibacterial performances of the coating doped with the as-prepared samples were also assessed. It was revealed by the results that when the molar ratio between Zn(2+) and potassium hexacyanoferrate was 1.5/1, the as-synthesized sample exhibit best brightness, morphology stability and antibacterial ability against both Aureus Staphylococcus and Escherichia coli.; Cubic potassium zinc hexacyanoferrate particles were prepared with zinc nitrate and potassium hexacyanoferrate.
