AbstractA pneumatically controlled downcomer called the moving-bed V-valve for discharging granular solids has been developed on the basis of theoretical analysis and systematic experiments. It consists of a fluidized dipleg followed by a tapered spout. It has a number of advantages such as continual and stable operation, freedom from obstruction, reduced gas by passing, improved sealing ability, and high discharge rate. A group of equations on the hydrodynamics of the moving bed V-valve has been deduced.
