AbstractThe oscillatory behavior of optic output signals (OOS) in a 10-m high by 90-mm I.D. FCC-air fast fluidized bed was investigated for characterizing the flow of fast fluidization. It was shown that aperiodic behavior of the OOS oscillations has no characteristic time scale. The power spectral distributions on the OOS oscillations in the fast fluidized bed were found to be composed of three frequency regions, and their differences from those in the bubbling fluidized bed and in the transport were discussed. The fractal dimensions of the power spectra in the high frequency region were evaluated through the so-called 1/f-like distributions. The 1/f0-like and 1/B0-like distributions obtained from the power spectral analyses were considered to be two important characteristics of the linkage between the OOS oscillations and variations of the local solids structure.; The oscillatory behavior of optic output signals (OOS) in a 10-m high by 90-mm I.D.
